THREE Healthy Habits to Detox After Vacation!
Vacation is needed and that is FACTS! We all need a break to rest, recover and live a little bit but sometimes we let ourselves go a bit too much. We eat, drink and do about everything we want except workout. By the time we come back to the routine, our vacation habits tend to follow us wherever we go if we’re not aware.
Today, I wanted to share THREE healthy habits to immediately start doing as soon as you get back to the routine that will shake off any habits of our “vacation” self and get back onto the track of sustainable health and fitness!
1. Schedule Your Next Workout in Your Planner
Even though it probably will be the hardest task to accomplish following a fun vacation but its the one thing that will slap you across the face and remind you of your fitness goals and other desires. A great workout forces you to become present and realize what kind of person you want to be. If you go to the gym after a vacation, it’s a mesage to your spirit that you’re still here and fighting for your health. Your body is always watching you and a great workout is the biggest sign of self-respect.
A workout that involves weight lifting, cardiovascular exercises in a circuit routine with limited breaks are the kinds of workouts that boost your metabolism and torch the excess calories consumed over vacation. Lifting weights encourages muscles to burn energy, cardio exercising helps sweat out salt, alcohol and other toxins and shortening your rest periods challenge your heart to becomes stronger. One of these kind of workouts after vacation is sure to reset your whole fitness journey!
2. Drink Your Full Bodyweight in Ounces for Week
Most likely, drinking water was the second to last of things to do on vacation but that’s why the focus on it when you return is critical! Water can buffer out the acidity caused from enflaming foods, the acidity of alcohol and salty foods and the water retention from carbohydrate foods (bread, rice, pasta and potatoes) and desserts.
Drinking your body weight in ounces can return your back to a hydrated state (just check your urine color) that is optimized to lose weight, build muscle and boost metabolism. You will feel more natural energy and less bloat. If you can add the supplement Brach-Chained Amino Acids (BCAA’s) to your daily water drinking, you can get even more hydrated while balancing out your electrolytes. Fill up a large container today and start chugging your vacation away!
3. Have a Protein Smoothies Everyday
Your stomach after vacation needs a lot of taming. The habit of non-stop eating causes your stomach to constantly seek the next large, delicious meal. Making thick, nutritious protein smoothies help you re-train your stomach to digest healthy foods slowly and re-stabilize a normal appetite. We are basically telling your stomach to “shut up” because we’re not on vacation anymore.
When you add protein powders, fibrous seeds, healthy oils and nut butters and a healthy serving of fruits to the smoothies - you create balanced and healthy drinks that make you feel satisfied for hours in under 5 minutes. You can make ones that have green foods like spinach and cucumber or sweet ones that involves sweet fruits and protein powders. Tame that stomach as soon as you get back from vacation this way!
